True North 1 was built by Crockett-McConnel in 1985 and she sailed in the 12 Metre World Championships in 1986, the year before the America's Cup contest.
True North 1 was designed by Steve Killing, one of the principal designers at C&C Yachts from 1972 until 1979. During this period, the wing-keeled Australia II was the state-of-the-art 12 Metre Class, and True North 1 was designed as a longer, heavier boat - specifically built to withstand everything that Fremantle, Australia could throw at it.
True North 1 is currently sailing as part of our Sint Maarten operations.
